The Theory Of Everything

It may sound simplistic that the universe started from a singularity.

Or that black holes are not that black, that in fact, there is some Hawking radiation escaping from them.

In his book, The Grand Design, he pauses to note the big and the small and everything in between.

The epic, the unified field theory is about putting it all together, questions like how does relativity relate to say quantum mechanics.

Imagine, making sense out of all of this…

Canada, among other nations, mark the passing of great scientists like Max Planck, Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.

Their contributions to science are still being examined today and for many years into our future,

Desires And Aversions

To have the power of negative and positive impulses, another words, of making good use of impressions.

If I have to die now, I will die now. If later, I will find something more useful to do: live my life the best way I am able during work, leisure and in all my affairs.

Stop acting outside nature. Exercise impulse by saying no and practice purpose, design, and assent when I am able.

Stop myself from writing pretty platitudes. I will restrain myself from accepting praise and be content to look like nobody. It is best to practice testing myself through self examination and question my affairs. I need to get to know myself rather than writing a pretty book.

I need to drop any presumption I possess knowledge of any use before I approach the proper use of impressions.

I can’t afford to blame others, they don’t diminish my use of impressions.

I can use these as virtual guidelines to live ‘a good life’.

To learn to led and follow others in this way, I must exercise each day, simple principles, that ask me to put up with pain, be out done in power and legal matters.

To be of any virtue, I must practice very few desires and learn to face my aversion in a calm steady way.

The Disease Called Loneliness

“Excuse me,” a young woman raises her hand on the bus. “Does anyone know when to pull the bell to get off at the mall?”

Meanwhile two other young women turn to each other with grimacing disapproval.

The individual is building self esteem and keeps low expectations.

The paired couple are attempting to discourage this young woman’s building her self-esteem.

The pattern of any person learning to get their needs meet can be taught by parents, schools, churches and by playing in other social groups.

To even make a friend is a risk many people will not do these days.

Social media and other devices are prompting people to choose a “bad behaviour over a good one”.

People prefer their smartphone to risking self esteem to pursue low expectations from social activities that are used as venues to pursuing greater expectations and greater risking of self-esteem necessary to overcome lonely feelings.

The “great debate” has yet to become public over issues of loneliness, but we can all agree it is costly and in epidemic proportions.

Take every risk presented to you, wherever you stand on the loneliness continuum to foster your subjective wellbeing!

I love to journal,write and walk,think, meditate and become peaceful

I want to teach and become a student in my life.

What can I do about it: journal, read, write, blog, write a book and study to do it.

Most of the time I am curious about meditation.

Most of the time I practice being calm and experience peacefulness.

I love to learn and practice how to do all of it.

I believe that is what my book will be all about.

Why books are no good in philosophy

To use the Socratic method requires being a good guide and connecting with people face to face.

Old technology like books and new stuff like FaceTime, just won’t work.

It is all about making better thoughts to help people make themselves better.

This is the true definition of prosperity or philosophy.

Stoics like Epictetus used the same methods.

Technology isn’t going to advance humanity, humanity is.

Okay, you may not get it.  People only connect, face to face.

This sense of connection delutes isolation and helps with authenticity.

There are many qualities to person to person connections.  Trust is just one of them.

[Socrates and Rich man], On Being A ‘Gadfly’

In this dialogue, the Socratic method is about holding people accountable for their beliefs by questioning them as a guide, who is really wishing them ‘good thoughts’. Socrates compared himself to being a midwife in the sense he tries to guide others to having better thought like having a baby. In fact, he also is said to have called himself a Gadfly of Athens.

Socrates: How important is it to you?

Rich man: Money is a road to power, which I enjoy. It is a form of currency. It circulates like an electric current. And it has power like an electric current. But now, we must state the truth. It is an agreed upon system of coins and bills that a group uses to buy goods. This group is usually a recognized country like the USA that has dollars and coins.

S: Why do you want power?

Rm: Who doesn’t? I crave it. To me, there is never enough money or power. I think I crave the latter more.

S: What do you gain?

Rm: More power. I am in lust with it. I will never have enough. It is intoxicatingly everything.

S: Would you help people with your wealth and power? Maybe, by showing them how to built a well to hold water when they have no water?

Rm: I would need some help.

S: I have a friend who would show you, but you would have to pay a small price for it.

Rm: Would poor people pay me back?

S: I am sure they would when they are able. Do you want to think of other ways to help people?

Rm: Not particularly, but perhaps I could be persuaded for a small price.

S: What did you have in mind?

Rm: A small profit.

S: For you?

Rm: Maybe, and for them too.

S: What would you say to doing it for free?

Rm: I suppose I could afford it.

S: I imagine I could do better by talking to many rich people about it.

[Teacher and Student], Build Your Brain

In this dialogue, neuroplasticity and behavior is discussed with those learning to live and love.  They explore the responsibility we have to receive fruitful outcomes or growing problems.

Teacher:  There is no good behavior there is only behavior. 

Student:  What does that mean.

T:  Everything you learn, good or bad will change your brain.  The best habits for you may not work on your friend.  The best habits for you today, may not work for you tomorrow.

S:  Does that mean that I may be a good learner today and a bad one tomorrow?

T:  Essentially, yes.  If you do harm, like consume drugs every day.  You may create a bad habit.  If you do good, like learn your work.  You may create a good habit.

S:  Will meditation and exercise and healthy eating and good routine help my overall ability to have better results.

T:  Yes.  And so will a supportive community and connections with people in your life.

S:  Is not this a recipe for Success and failure?

T:  In a way,  we still need to study and learn what is best for ourselves on the day to day basis.  There is no magic about it.  You still need to do the work.
