What Is Happening Now? (New Year’s Eve Day)

As a canadian, I do not have a particular philosophical school of thought.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophy_in_Canada

But I seem to have some kind of original thought that reflects canadian thought, in a philosophical way.

IR, or international relations, is one of my sources, that lead me to Realism here in Canada and around the world.

Realism is a theory from IR that states that a place like Canada or any country is only interested in Power.

Some say that Power is found through economics.

I think we are distracted from the emerging realism of our time. Some say re-emerging, because it is based on the number of powerful states that are expressing their power through economics, war, etc.

I think we are confused by government, our own needs vs. the country’s (Canada).

We worry about our pay cheque, our family and friends, survival, and whatever we think is important.

To me, I am concerned about my well being, but I am confused by identity politics and people who threaten me with violence.

I get distracted by functional medicine and individual medicine.

But I believe in doing no harm and my best each day, which amounts to a personal philosophy and a source of my purpose and motive to move forward each day.

To me as a Canadian and a person, I am grounded by Nature, intuition, civil disobedience, philosophy and moving and physical work/exercise, people, engagement, curiosity, mental and emotional challenges, reading, writing and research, and the day to day importance of being here.

I may not care about who or what you are, but this has to be a decision and practice and ritual, or habit that protects me from violence and harmful people/places and things.

Right now, I am doing my best, doing no harm, waxing about the here and now because we are in a new world: Russia, China, U.S.A. There is identity politics, culture wars, cyber wars, and these countries are engaging us with all of it. As a person, I do my best to stay aware of it and take it with a grain of salt. Of course it is serious stuff, and I never seem to learn enough about what is happening right now.

I am busy with my life, as you are, and we are living here, weather we live our separate ways or not, because we relate more and more through limited real estate, and other resources.

I am extremely limited by what I can do about here and now.

I stick with what works for me and practice the best lifestyle I can afford.

I am grateful to the people that keep the city running with all these basics I use each day.

I may not like my job or family at times but I think the struggle is of personal value.

So, common speech may appear limiting to some, but it is a practice. I use it to help keep the focus on the here and now.

Even my language is a canadian philosophical tool….

Happy New Year, 2023!

Torture Due To Racism

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sterilization_of_Native_American_women

pain and violence leave scars on all people.

healing hurts but paves the way for opening education, prevention and awareness.

to describe the problem is to openly talk about indigenous women being viewed in untrue hateful ways and harmed in many more.

it may be time to read and listen carefully about this canadian torture.

East and West

Tribute to David Suzuki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Suzuki?wprov=sfti1.

There is a way to pay homage to this planet and the way we all endeavor to praise and practice good habits to preserve this good earth.

Many gain fame and fortune but lay truth to bare against the ruin we create in the wake of ‘progress’.

It is more than environmental studies and practice.

We engage each other in dialogue to gain good practice.

We want environmental control to prevent pollution, damage or disastrous destruction.

Mr. Nickolichuk, a high school teacher, a good example of prevention is better than cure.

A choice to use art as a vocation and science as a foundation will always engineer a better practice for a better world.

When we understand the world philosophy and teach our ways to the children, we will learn to practice what we preach: non-violence, world peace, safe practices for a environmentally friendly way of living on this planet.

It is just another good direction to improve present conditions: think about it.

She may have a late nap and be up forever

Worries and concerns of a young mom talking to her friend on the way to the store, baby in tow.

She is grateful, thriving and living in a good way.

Contrasting situations arise downtown, but mom feels good taking her young baby out for a stroll with the support of a good friend.

So many parts to a well rounded life, what will this woman do in this lifetime?

Who will her baby become?

How will her family live over the next twenty five years.

There is a lot going on out there.

We have a lot of changes, choices and charges to work out.

But it is nice to smell the roses and acknowledge the traditional aspects from time to time.

The Library

Have you ever been to a casino when it first open’s in the morning?  There is usually a bundle of people who wish to anxiously use the facility.  In the same manner, the GVPL is the same.  Most of us are ardent library fans.  Some of us are addicted to internet use.  And many of us, enjoy reading, writing, and community.

I’d like to share my personal experience with being a library fan.  First, let me say, that I am a proud library goer.  I enjoy a full range of services.  And I see first hand the values of our community being put to use.  I am not current with the usage of material for people who may experience some form of physical challenge.  Yet, I notice all the multimedia and computer devices for those people with a need to use them.

Second, I am a long time member, and I visit libraries in other communities and appreciate the universal principles put to use.  I lived in Edmonton for 25 years, I went to the library at least once a week.  And I miss living in the the big city.  Mostly, I miss the huge public library and University Library.  But I have been back a few times to visit in the last ten years.  Each time I went, I was sure to visit the public library.

Besides individuals, groups use the library, I belong to a select group, because I am single.  I tend to notice people who are single like I notice people with red hair and left handedness.  I am all three.  It is a boon to be able to visit a safe place when I am alone.  I don’t chat people up in the library.  But a quiet conversation has occurred from time to time.

There are many technical aspects to the library, but the number one change has been due to computers.  It is the iconic face of the library.  The librarian is still gainfully employed, but the computer has become ‘the tool’ for every user in the system.  I have been fortunate to use my laptop and “successfully logged in to ‘a hotspot’ for internet use.”  I am glad to report that my blog is being written on this system.

Lastly, let me thank the taxpayer and people who donated to the library.  We have the best in the west.  And I believe our country loves to support the educational aspects of the public library.

So, another day, I am happy to spend my usual few hours in this place I love to visit, I tend to come on Monday’s and Thursday’s.  I look forward to meeting others who do the same.
