Common Sense

In today`s busy, reactive (twitter feed), politically correct society, it is no wonder there is so much confusion over the headlines.

Justin Trudeau has a lot to answer for with his recent headlines in the paper about `brownface`.  A picture of his Arabian Night Theme school picture shows our then teacher of the countries children in a costume that is racist and inappropriate in today`s traditions and customs.

This behaviour happened in 2001, at a school fundraiser.  But is there any reason to believe we are being overly influenced by media, facts or even the way people behave?

I believe some common sense is lacking in all our lives for one reason or another.

Who has the time to read, research and chat with good people about topics we hear on the news or twitter feed?

We need to all learn to slow down and deal with the stress that technology and living in 2019 is delivering to most of us.

So, it turns out that a lot of people, probably white people, and increasingly people who do not have time to properly digest the news, are guilty of wearing inappropriate garb to parties, Halloween and others.

With society changing so rapidly, it helps to have politically correctness on one side and common sense on the other to supply a balance with day to day living.

But we all drop the ball from time to time.

Trudeau has a lot of work to do to get back in the good graces of his political colleges, party and the public at large.

He needs to address this issue head on and suffer whatever consequences result in his poor choices from 2001.

Being a liberal myself, I am of the opinion that he needs to take an even tempered approach to the people that challenge him on his problem.

I for one will be following him on this specific issue and all others that arise during this political campaign called the federal election.

I hope some good will come of his apologies and actions in the weeks and months to come.

And I believe it couldn`t of happened to a better representative of the people.

We need accountable politicians that can show us a thing or two about making mistakes, whether it is in the past, public or politics.

For my part, as a writer, I want to read, research and write on many topics and work on my own mistakes.

I can`t claim to be an expert on this topic and this is just trying to be a thoughtful opinion.

I`m sure the public has judged him and will continue throughout his life.

I only hope we as bystanders can learn a thing or two about making mistakes as human beings.

Is there a failsafe for such an event?

Who can we count on to oversee AI and weapons of war?

Prevention is cure.

Let’s invest in better safety protocol for AI and weapons

How Religious Fundamentalism Hijacks the Brain | Psychology Today Canada

Today we are seeing groups of young people being used by power and political ideas as an ends to a means.

Books like the Hand Maiden’s Tale tries convincingly to warm us to its dangers.

Question authority that attempts to soft sell you a better life.

What are the motives of a right Christian conservative political democracy that manipulated others in a western society?

Why are leftists rationalists being political in the University in countries like Canada?

With the US shutting out Russia and China and other complicated issues, the world stage is becoming more reactionary.

The complexity of the world needs better leaders than the reactionary.

But fundamentally we need to whittle our hijacking religious groups from creating havoc in Western Society politics.

More separation of religion from democracy.

Better education and separation of political manipulation of students.

Better education for everyone.

Once and for all.

The first time is for all of us.

We learn everything this way.

You see how someone does it, usually someone you know and probably care about.

Everyone you know cares and knows about it.

In a lot of ways we are all the same, and that is part of being human.

But finally, when we all join in for this act.

The outcome is a lot like our population.

It takes a lot of givers to make things work.

Let’s do this on the world stage.

Imagine The Demilitarization Of The World

“Imagine” by John Lennon didn’t seem outrageous.

It seemed like a love song.

Yet the Dalai Lama says the same thing in simple words, “There is a wonderful verse in the Bible about turning swords into plough shares.  It’s a lovely image, a weapon transformed into a tool to serve basic human needs, symbolic of an attitude of inner and outer disarmament.  In the spirit of this ancient message, I think it is important that we stress today the urgency of a policy that is long overdue:  the demilitarization of the entire planet.”

The definition of ‘Outrageous’ is shockingly, bad or excessive, synonyms:  shocking, disgraceful, scandalous, atrocious, appalling, abhorrent, monstrous, heinous.

To oppose the morals of our time may appear wrong.

Perhaps, it may be time to reevaluate our morals regarding armament.

Oh Country (no free lunch)!

Our place is pretty good, but there are things going on I don’t like.

I really love this place and tend to over look stuff that I should pay more attention to.

I protect me and my family and people I know, but who am I to tell anyone what to do.

One guy I know, makes a point, we aren’t as free as we believe.

But our place is better than most.

Sure, I take it for granted and I tend to care too much.

But the neighbours place is 10 times bigger and he is 10 times angrier than me.

What am I going to do?

I’m going to see what happens next.  It may be time to move.

Municipal Elections 2018: Four more years!

Victoria voting elected Lisa Help as mayor who was endorsed by David Suzuki to clean up this city for the future.

The progressive mandate gives all an opportunity to cooperate and collaborate in a positive vision for a better Victoria.

The inclusion will create challenges that require patience and understanding by the majority for a safe sustainable lifestyle for all.

With so many people working together greater accomplishments are possible and probable for this capital city.

We have broken things up pretty good.

Mankind is still available for small group activities, and humanity is still raging on with death and destruction.

The goal is to understand competition, hatred and acting in self-destructive group-acts like war.

It’s not always polite to stare in the mirror.

Sometimes we need to go about the business of procreation, raising the family, community, going to work, etc.

It would have been nice to go to a four day work week, but we fucked that up when we started to think IT was the end all be all.

Technology and science by extension are pretty heady, but so is having a sanity for the individual and group to grow into the 21 century.

It seems like a good time to use old technology like mindfulness or meditation.

Old ideas like globalization can’t be all bad.

Things can still go south with unknown diseases, over population, poverty, natural disaster and more.

Never a dull moment with human consciousness.

Old Man Vs. Young Woman: Love/ Hate Relationship

In this dialogue there is a simple exchange of opposing view on opening day of the bike lane on Fort Street in Victoria, B.C., Canada

Olds man: I am a tax payer!

Young Woman (trying to ride her bike around the old man who is purposely blocking her way): what do you think I am?

Hype, Hysteria and Hanging Out!

Downtown has always been a catch all for those who have and do not have.

People like to yak at the bars over the sports game, politics and sex.

Not much has changed in the big city in the last 10 years.

But technology has made it instant to grab your moment of fame or being notorious.

But there is always someone pushing something, and it is not always drugs.

Yet, the mania about the drug epidemic is getting very serious indeed.

Hanging out has gone from riches to rags for many who have succumbed to the latest designer drugs.

And the economy has not made it easy on those who use to enjoy more ‘haves’.

There is very little calmness around poverty, disease, war, and calamity.

We are facing more and more upheaval around the globe.

It is getting harder to travel safe.

More people and more insecurity is playing havoc on the world population.

Yet, education is key.

The increase in world population begs for a better education and no one is doing anything about it.

Children in higher numbers will be begging for more if people do not try to help.

Third world countries need assistance in planning for education in the near future.

Who wants to help the world population?

Can’t we all help the world population?
