The Writer’s Way

Here is a top ten, daily schedule for most writers.

1. Write, write and write some more !  But the practice is not the goal.  Learning to find better ways to write is!
2. Reading is a kind of research for an expert or novice.  We learn how to be better at something by finding good product.  Find your love or idols and copy from them.  Steal the stuff from many rather than one.  Like it is said in the Artist’s Way, stealing from one is plagerism, but from many is more original.  We copy and build on what we like.  We actually use it in different ways. This list is similar to many but it focuses in on what I am or love.

3.  Journal:  there are many things that catch the eye, or somethings just come and this is good to discuss with others.  But the journal is like all of this plus a record and a piece of the writer’s routine.

4. Set up an environment:  writing times everyday like 6-7 every morning and 6-7 every night.  Keep a home office, use devices like an eReader, writers mobile table for hand writing anywhere, books and bookshelves and everything else.

5. Meditate. 30 minutes first thing in the morning and last thing a night.

6.  Rest, schedule coffee breaks and just goof off from time to time…

7.  Sleep a good 7 hours each night and set up a routine or ritual to encourage a healthy practice.

8:  Exercise:  have a good workout routine to aspire to and practice a good walk and keep mobile and active.

9.  Practice good habits to replace the bad with the end in mind:  eliminate the bad ones.  Don’t be a saint but learn to become healthier each day.

10. Be ambitious and keep your day job until you can afford to be a writer. Find ways to be the student and teacher and write each day.

Shake It Up

‘Speare’ of Destiny my ass,

Schoolmaster?  Is anybody’s guess.

A player was his minor task.

And his playwriting was shared by the best.

He was a good student.

Someone who could read history and be contemporary about it.

Yet, history does not remember many facts concerning this man.

Yet again, history remembers her works better than most.

He is a famous playwrite, poet and what not.

VIP of Britain’s most fascinating historical figures.

Don’t sit idle, write plays and poetry, read and remember William Shakespeare.

Solitude(silence,stillness and calmness are golden)

Being silent, still and calm is inner peace.

Being here like stillness, silence and calm is inner peace.

To look through these glasses bring peace.

Bliss and joy accompany my solitude.

Yet, living can go up and down.

Therefore, life can present challenges that feel deep but painful and exhausting.

And I do not live in a castle of solitude.

I live with people, problems and more.

I love and risk all.

Who am I to sum up life?

A traveller using the vehicle of imagination.

I believe in striving for “being whole”.

Like the trumpet player, “Feels So Good.”

Transpearancy helps protect the person and the players in the situation.

Solitude creates self esteem, alleviates depression, improves creativity, recharges the person, allows you to think, and improves the focus and concentration.

In this sense the person is an organic whole and solitude is the mechanism to restore its balance.

Solitude is food for ‘the soul’.

Stay Calm And Do No Harm

Silence or quiet time will lead to better times.

Be cautious, be kind, be gentle…

Let go of the madness:  thought, feeling and belief.

Rediscover peace of mind.

Commit to good works:  know yourself and change the part that needs it the most.

Decide the best way to build trust and keep good faith.

Truth and beauty,in the eye of the beholder, will always lead to higher ground.

Plug into this myth and see how change can improve living in the here and now.

Mindfulness

The hand is writing here now.

The brain is composing this poem.

This body craves food, sex, materials, consuming, answers, permanency.

Gently, let go of desire, the body and mind are here.

Gently, let go of desire, the body and mind are now.

Religion or secular, whatever works.

We are all ending sometime.

So why not do it with style:  no harm but mindfully.

Aren’t we all mentally ill?

Don’t we all want to live the best way we know how?

Green, Green

Earth is a wonder.

The astronomical fact is clear.

From space this planet is bright with light that reflects naturally from the sun.

Of course, we see the colors white and blue:  lots of cloud and water.

The land is brown and green.

At night there is dark blue and black.  Many bright lights shine from cities around the world.  Sometimes, there are flashes from lightening storms.

The dominate color of the Aurora Borealis is green, because it represents atomic oxygen or the atmospheric gas.

Green represents oxygen gas when the atomic particles are charged in the atmosphere.

And it represents the plant life on this beautiful planet.

All this science proves the truth about our pretty home.

And yet, the color in this picture is changing from an abundance of green to more and more brown.  We are loosing the life here on earth.

Will we need to move to survive?

Can we live in a greener way?

Do we want the planet to live?

Questions abound about the experience of living a greener way on earth.

Is it the right decision to live a greener life?

Most of us try to keep on ‘striving and thriving’ in many ways.

Celebrating poetry, astronomy and earth day represents truth and beauty today.

Being responsible at work and play makes a greener planet.

Going green makes sense to me.

I believe in practicing what I preach, because it is the best way to live.

In this spirit, it seems that education can only work to a point, without a small commitment to live green, there will be no lasting life experience.

Check out living green on the net and in the community.

A Movie I Starred In

Night Train To Lisbon:  Your Life Can Change In An Instant

The movie opens with what seems like me in my study and continues to a scene on the bridge where I rescue a woman trying to commit suicide.  Again, I remember this happening in my own life.  But he is not me and the suicide attempt is not the same.  But again, he is teaching a class in philosophy, a stoic way of being.  Again, I can relate to this on a deep level.

The book is an important element in the plot because the main character wants to feel what it is like to be the author.  This sense is interesting to me as a writer.  Then the movie begins to take on a life of it’s own.  And, yet again, I am hooked on the ideas that are expressed in the story.  I loved the acting in this movie.  Jeremy Irons does a commendable job.  Of course, the ending is great.  If you like to suspend your sense of self and loose yourself in a movie, let it happen in this one.  I promise you won’t regret it.

Stephen Hawking

What can I say about physics. I love science and art. I choose art. I am a writer and admire those who write books. I was given Stephen Hawking’s book: a brief history of time as a present from a good friend. I am a generalist. And I have a great passion for ideas. To have enjoyed his book is an understatement. Now I can say the same thing about his autobiography. The movie is a great inspiration. It is a tasteful depiction of the life of an important human being. Personally, I have a great passion for inspiration. It is very satisfying to see it rendered so well in this wonderful story about a personal hero.

Peace and Poverty

What?  http://poemhunter.com/poem/peace-or-poverty/.  Poetry  can encapsulate the idea.  Leaders bring inspiration and followers.  Foundations can guide and moderate money.  Yet, people can change the outcome.  If there are enough people, anything is possible.

People are poverty.  There are 500 million in the Sub Sahara alone.  People are peace.  The world has many people who espouse peace.  Where is the work being done?  What are the issues:  http://www.globalissues.org/article/4/poverty-around-the-world?  The global work is mostly done by the west and many individuals do poverty.  No wonder it is described like a disease.  Every one of us has the fear of poverty because we need to work for a solution.  Where and when and who will do it?

Like any issue of conscious, blowing the whistle is the place to start.  Poverty is just another form of abuse that we are all guilty of committing in some form or another.  My favorite is avoiding work.  Or going in debt.  I believe each time I take responsibility for my mistakes I take one more step to a better personal economy.  It helps to talk about the issue and discover the best way to express it.  Being a good listener is important when it comes to identifying an issue that is so painful and abstract.

What are the rules?  I like to think  of the rules of prosperity for a moment.  My good friend use to tell me that it is only money changing hands.  This phrase expresses a whole philosophy around how to be prosperous or how to handle money.  The same is true of poverty.  It may be obvious to you, but sharing seems like an important rule to me.

How and when do we share?  First, I think we have to make sure it is safe and healthy to do the job.  The work is really just another expression of living a healthy life.

So, enough with the empty platitudes.  I need to get back to work.
