Solar Maximum

I have just had an amazing chat with AI about space weather regarding the 11 year cycle of our sun affectionately named the solar maximum for the most active time of the period. It is both amazingly exciting and dangerous at the same time. None other than NASA has officially opened the year of living dangerously with our sun.

One thing for sure is global devices around and in space will be busy recording data of the event. The expert scientists in this field will be like professional photographers trying to catch all the action.

There is a lot to know when it comes to to understanding the single most powerful object in our solar system. I am sure many of you are blissfully unaware how important this opportunity is to enthusiasts of our very active sun.

So, with so much energy coming our way we have to be on guard to any major disruptions to our systems here and of our planet.

If you are curious or just want to cheer on the heavy lifters of this experiment. Please tune in to the media who will help keep us informed on Everthing about solar maximum.

What are you doing for the holidays?

It is good to go through the housekeeping of getting ready for the holidays, There is new decorations and decore. People will choose designs that are familiar like winter, traditional color schemes like red and green, a rustic cabin. People want somewhere called home. Then there is the do it yourself types that make handmade ornaments, wreaths and garlands. These fun activities can be attempted by crafty enthusiasts with family and friends.

Community comes together with the Santa parade, tree lighting or Truck lit convoys….

Charitable events like the local radio stations annual event. And more seriously, the toy drives and free dinners for those in need. The food drives are big this year. And volunteer opportunities for activities at local shelters and community centers. Many want to give time to an activity like this in the neighborhood.

Lots of Holiday shows of theater productions, concerts and school plays. Support the arts with family and friends at one of these entertainments.

Have a sing a long with a small group of family and friends: sing, tell stories, put on a small performance of somekind.

There is a move to family traditions like Advent Calendar: put one together to count down the days to christmas with peronal notes, little gifts, activities leading up to the big day.

Cultural Celebrations is about putting diversity into the mix with different cultural traditions. Include friends and neighbours from different backgrounds to share customs and make it a celebration.

Get online and share the Joy of virtual parties that host the holiday with game nights for friends and family who can’t get together with everybody. And holiday greetings on social media, photos and vids. Create a hashtag for your celebrations to keep in touch.

Get into the festive music and movies by watching and listening to movies and music. Binge watch some favorites when only with a few or alone or with many.

Sprucing up the place, weather with regular decorations or something fresh. Go solo and enjoy a good book with a hot cocoa. Go on a road trip to visit relatives with special gifts and holiday meals.

Remember to rest in relax, spread joy and be nice.

And don’t forget the gift giving, in whichever manner you choice. People will be happy showing up empty handed if it means you make it to dinner. Or spend your time.

These are my ideas and they are familiar to most and found in and around the community this time of year. I have a wack of gifts and a plan to head up Island to spend time in a gift exchange and smorgasbord of sorts to see my sister and in-laws. It is fun to rent a vehicle and get away. Maybe take an extra day off to do my own thing. Wishing you the best this holiday season and attitude to get out there and participate. Happy 2025!

Aristotle’s Elitist Good Life or Something we need to do our homework on (future prospective)….

Yes, I have time and money, I contemplate and have friends, and yes I am into writing about philosophy. But, not the way you think.

I am grateful for all of this and more. And I want people to take these ideas and dialogue about them at home. Who knows, it could become a tradition for some like me.

REVIEW Of A BOOK I RECOMEND

“Plato Not Prozac!” is a self -help book not a philosophy book as the critic says in the link bellow. But I read it like you, as a self-help book to learn more about my mind. Society is learning from individual or what is good for the individual is good for society. Especially, when you and me find help from this kind of a book. I think this book helps society value the self, self -help and Western philosophy. There is definitely a lot of potential to take a step towards a solution.

“The Last Word”,”How freely we live depends both on our political system and our vigilance in defending its liberties. How long we live depends both on our genes and on the quality of our health care. How well we live— that is how thoughtfully, how nobly, how virtuously, how joyfully, apply it to all else. The examined life is a better life, and it’s within your reach. Try Plato not Prozac!”—from page 23, by Lou Marinoff, PH.D.
