Who is selling it and why? There is self care and personal medicine and a way to deal with self help.
People can learn it and practice it for themself or learn it from a philosophical councillor and maybe get it through some research and pick ing it up through self care or all the above. You need to ask for help sometimes.
Doctors try to use “do no harm”, as do may people and we try other kinds of good habits why not as a personal philosophy? Do no harm with self care and you start an entry level personal philosophy right there.
Meditation is a practice that practices philosophy through good intention and awareness , relaxation , meditation and visualization. It is also a way into a personal philosophy
As is any religion and sometimes we find it in the gym and through better living practices.
If a person joins any of these groups through school there is a lot more information and there is even more on the internet.
So why listen to an arrival of something in plain sight? It is abstract and new in the sense that stoicism became popular. Which is still kind of new.
Mental health is a curious way to look at personal philosophy practice. Something like Behaviour Therapy or B. F. Skinner with Walden Two. He kind a wrote a book about it and history records the genesis of it like philosophy or religion. Citywide use seems to still practice community this way.
Fancy ideas like freedom:: accountability and responsibility. And good habits, bad habits and virtues or vices are a similar pathway to a personal philosophical practice and teachers can help with it.
I think living better and more often is the critical thinking habit that makes the practice take hold and blossom into a life long habit.
I like compassionate nonviolence and the abstract idea but get a lot more out of an actual practice.
