Taking Care Of Our Parents: Using A Good Attitude

“Honor” in Hebrew is Kabed which means “heavy.” Is this a burden or does it mean rich? It means both to be glorious and hard. Riches are both a joy and a burden, and Kabed captures all of it.

Inheritance: The idea was our parents took care of us as children. But our older parents need us to take care of them. We need to be kabed – rich with them.

It’s gut wrenching when families are torn apart over an inheritance issue. It’s not the material things that really hurt, it is the love loss between siblings, family and friends.

Any inheritance we receive is a gift. No one is obliged to give!

Every case is unique, there is not one right answer that should be done.

We are all given guidance as a group, a family, a community or society at large.

In summary, be honorable to our parents and accept our inheritance as the gift it was meant to be. But never let the material things in life steal the love of siblings, family, friends or community.

Instead, see each case as unique, we are all given advice as a group, a family, a community or society at large. As adults we can begin to shoulder our responsibility with all our strengths. Together, we are stronger than staying apart.
