Contemplating the Value of Time

Spending is important to do, earning too!

Learning what to do and what not to do.

Identifying this and that,

Finding how ends meet and why,

Doing what I said I’d do.

Making lots of things go poo!

More waste, more time to kill and more over spending,

Learning what to do…

BC’s Climate Emergency ?

Dry, dusty weather in June 2019

Low water in rivers and streams, stranded fish, pine beetle infestation, and heat.

Forestry work like logging and mill work is shutting down.

Farmers are using the dwindling water from lake river and streams to grow food.

Water rationing is at its peak.

Song Sung True By Your Beauty Too

Give me ten lines to remember you by,

Etch them with relief to show your beauty,

Brighten all my senses with this blissful experience so I may contemplate at my end of days,

I turn away from our smugness and kisses,

You lean back into my arms,

I listen in silence as your voice sings out,

You speak like we will be here forever,

I’m still listening,

You’re still speaking,

Into my eyes you gaze, I into yours…

Truth and beauty -that is all.The famous lines Beauty is truth, truth beauty’, that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know’ are taken from the Ode On A Grecian Urn by John Keats. It emphasizes the identity of beauty and truth.

This may sound a tad simplistic, but the point has to do with our identity.

Truth can be good or bad or somewhere in between.

Same goes for beauty.

Jung points this out with images using what he calls archetypes and the unconscious.

The criminal sees opportunity where the compassionate will eventually see the problem.

First, we need to see it in ourselves then we can see it in others.

Yet, we are guilty of deluding ourselves, but mostly ourselves,” Oh what a tangled web we weave,
When first we practice to deceive.”
– Sir Walter Scott (Marmion, 1808)

My favorite paraphrase comes from a lady on the bus, she was listening to CBC.ca and recalled a paraphrase from a show, “People are a messy business.”

I guess there really is no answer, just being human, it is fair to think the worst and hope for the best.

Oh, how curious we are,

I Love Solitude

Although it may be easy to confuse solitude with loneliness,

It all depends on your behavior.

Human contact with the best intentions will remedy most loneliness.

Some symbols seem to resonate with western civilization more than others: a lit candle, a peace sign, because of our Jewish or Christian culture Jesus.

I personally resonate with a lit candle, peace sign and the laughing Christ.

This helps me become aware of my feelings of solitude.

When I experience the best solitude is usually after a challenging social occasion with family and friends.

I will walk away to be by myself in solitude, rather than harm myself or others.

I have practiced this habit for many years, it is great for initial difficult social connections.

Ironically, further social contact will solve my problem, sometimes with additional solitude to recharge my energy level.

As a creative person, I have always needed some solitude for my work.

“The Laughing Christ”

Solitude or Isolation

In either state, you appear by yourself, but the similarities divulge from here.

Seeking solitude is born out of a need to reconnect with the self, philosophically, creatively and in a kind of recharging state.

Falling into loneliness can occur from being socially isolated from family and friends.

It can occur through mishap or mistakes, when we grieve or fear social contact, the consequences quickly evolve from our isolation. It is painful.

To experience both and recover or join our social circle, is living a social life of connection with family, friends and the community at large.
