Shadow Work And The Facade Of Being Too Sentamental

I sicken myself with a barrier of sweetness and niceness.

My grief is barrier by my foolishness of sentimentality.

But am I ready to know my pain and suffering?

This work is dark and full of bad habits that numb all feeling.

Sentimentality: The dark side


Don’t make things into good and bad,

It’s not my job.

Passion gone astray,

Illusion is a mental demonstration of insanity.

Don’t act on reaction,

It’s not a very good job.

Rehearsal may make a good practice,

But bad habits are bad habits.

Don’t avoid decisions,

Some are good and some are bad.

Practice helps sort the good from the bad,

With support from family and friends life’s problems can be overcome.

Learning to live will make the experience a work of art.

The art of living is just another way of expressing the ‘good life’.

I talk to many people about the culture and experience.

Not just another holiday destination.

Aristotle studied and thought hard about logic.

He understood and explained the whole idea in a series of books called by the title above.

This mystery is important as reading, writing and arithmetic.

Sleep and Memory

Did you sleep well last night?

Did you remember everything you needed the next morning?

These two things are very important.

Why do we sleep?

Does this cause us to study and educate ourselves on these matters?

Obesity (in Canada)

The problem seems to start with acting on cravings for complex reasons, situation and even cancers.

There are millions of people who suffer from related problems like cravings that lead to too much sugar, alcohol and almost anything else we desire in excess.

Many of the complex reasons range from a myriad of human sufferings.

Some situations involve society driving individuals to extreme experiences.

Then the stress adds to the process to create a pathology or disease like cancer.

We need medical help, society’s help and all the love and support we can muster to overcome the mess obesity creates for us all.

Arrian Lived The ‘Good Life’

Socrates and Plato, Epictetus and Arrian

In this description, the principle is not fame or fortune, but the anonymity surrounding the ‘ good life’ or living well.

Socrates cared less for fame and fortune than all the rest.

He appeared without shoes or fine clothing,

He suffered to become an example of a philosophy that lead him to give his life for the way.

Plato had more clothes and opportunity than Socrates.

He put his principles into the writings about the way to best live.

He suffered his peers to be able and willing to write, read and study.

Epictetus took Socrates and his pupils to heart.

He became a great teacher to live the good life.

And Arrian left many books, his teacher’s way seems to be his most direct account of the good life.

Sure, everyone remembers Plato, Socrates and Epictetus for their work.

But I would like to imagine a life like Arrian’s.

To live and breath philosophy for its own sake.

To live the good life.

Giving Up My World or Dream

“…don’t make dreams your master,

Don’t make thoughts your aim.”

To have an intrinsic goal like finding more joy and happiness in my life,

To create habits like mindfulness, meditation, journaling and blogging,

Practice good nutrition, exercise, sleeping

Practice listening and learning,

Be a good person or live the good life,

Do my opus,

The ‘why’ or answer is to practice philosophy because it ads more to life than it takes away,

Philosophy can show a good way to renew the present.

Hating People

Hate speech, hate spin and poor behavior at best…

To scapegoat an issue or people based on assumptions or misusing other people who have reason to be so upset…

It is hard to see the problem when deeply embroiled in an ongoing problem.

Why were the Nazis so afraid, hateful and abusive to Jewish people?

Why are people feeling this same way about other groups like Islam?

Whipping up hate in groups of people lead to violence.

We don’t need this kind of behaviour in sensitive problems among big groups of people.

Individuals train themselves, with support from family and friends to correct this kind of needless violence against others, but sometimes it is left unchecked and grows into a large difficult complex issue.

Become informed, educated and change to be better able to deal with today’s hate problems.

Disturbing news like the these can really rock people to their core.

The Truth About Sleep

Sleep is very important to the use and functions of the body.

You need a proper sleep (7-9 hours for an adult).

Sleep hygiene is clean sheets, cool room, dark, quiet and undisturbed.

Be in the right state of mind: calm, sleepy and comfortable.

We have forgotten most of this common practice and need to make it a habit to enjoy regular sleep.

If you have any sleep problems, be sure to find practical workable solutions which prove viable over the long term.
